The Chevrolet Corvette is a super sports car created by Chevrolet in 1953. It is now manufactured by an exclusive General Motors Bowling Green plant. It was the first all-American sports car manufactured by an American company. It is also the car that has been in production for the longest time since 1953. It is also known as a "cheap horse" because it costs around $ 70 to $ 100,000 in its best version, which is much lower than competitors like Ferrari, Lamborghini among others, and has a similar performance and in some cases superior. The National Corvette Museum is a dedicated car museum, also located in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Chevrolet has now launched another generation of the Chevrolet Corvette C7, the ZR1 version being the most powerful in the entire sports division of the brand, featuring a 6.2-liter V8 SuperCharger engine that delivers over 750 horsepower and torque exceeding 100kgfm.

In the early 1950s, European sports cars with their bold designs were successful all over the world, while the US market had only representatives like heavy Cadillacs and Buicks. During this period General Motors was going through a critical moment, with its rival, Ford, surpassing its North American sales for two consecutive years. The group directors knew they had to think of something to resume growth. Tom Keating, Chevrolet's CEO, had a new car in mind to put it back on the market.

In June 1951 the Opel project was started. At first the car would be called Korvette, Corvette's homophone word, referring to the small, fast-moving escort craft of the English Navy. Later they chose the name Corvette.

In 1952, GM Chief Engine Engineer Ed Cole and chassis expert Maurice Olley worked together on the EX-122 prototype. Harley Earl, head of design, based his model on European race cars.

On January 17, 1953, the first Corvette model to surprise the public was presented in New York. It was a different car from American standards: small, short, clean-looking and sporty. Although based on European sports, it had traces of American design: with lanterns on the tip of a small fishtail, it was white with a red leather interior.
